Kindergarten Program
The kindergarten program consists of two major components:

-
For the major part of the day, kindergarten children work as part of the whole preschool group and continue their normal progression through the basic skills, although their academic work is more teacher directed and their classroom behavior is subject to higher and more consistent standards, and

-
For at least one hour each day, the kindergarten children will be segregated with their age peers to simulate a traditional school setting; they will be involved in a variety of enriching activities, some of which will be similar to traditional activities such as working on the same things at the same time, using worksheets, and so forth.

-
Academic preparation is covered through the individualized learning program, although teachers require more work from kindergartners and assist them in planning their work time so that the children meet the obligations that both they and their teachers have jointly established. During regular classroom time, children help teach other children and assume tasks that ready them for more social responsibility the following year.

-
The segregated program focuses primarily on the social and behavioral aspects of school readiness. It includes special inside and outside activities as well as events and field trips. Whenever possible, it includes contact with elementary school-age children and elementary teachers.

-
With at least two hours per day of individualized academic work time, several hours of activity time with the other preschool children, and at least one hour of segregated time, each child will have a minimum of four to five hours per day of school readiness work at a level at least equivalent to, and typically higher than, a public-school kindergarten.
